"Priests have received from God a power that he has given
neither to angels nor to archangels . . .
God above confirms what priests do here below."
- St. John Chrysostom
(De sac. 3, 5:PG 48,643)
Priestly incardination
The incardination of the priests of the Community, until it is established as an Institute of Consecrated Life, will take place in the diocese in which the ordained member will be working (with the intention of later being incardinated in the new Institute), with a written agreement between our Servant General and the local Diocesan Bishop, (cf. CIC 1016). The newly-ordained will then pass to the new Institute through the same norms of the Codex Iuris Canonici which regulate the excardination of a cleric from one diocese and his incardination in another, in accordance with can. 267 §§1-2.
Regarding the certificate of the house of formation (cf. CIC 1051) and the dimissorial letters for the candidacy to the deaconate or presbyterate (cf. CIC 1015, §1), the Little Friar nominated as the Director for Priestly Formation will write a letter of presentation both to the Ordaining Bishop and above all to the Servant General of the community: who, after listening to his Board of Directors, grants the nulla osta written to the ordaining bishop to proceed with the ordination. If ordaining bishop also asks for the nulla osta of the referent bishop, it must be issued prior to the ordination (so that everything may be carried out in due order), at least until the Community becomes an Institute of Consecrated Life.
Assumption of Ecclesial Ministries
In the exercise of the apostolate, all of the members of the Community may (by written agreements between the local bishop and the Servant General) assume ecclesiastical ministires to give pastoral help to the diocese, compatible with their charism, according to the norms of canons 681 §2 and 682.
